Soccer Game Preview: Canyon View vs. Desert Edge

The Canyon View Jaguars will venture away from home to face off against the Desert Edge Scorpions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Canyon View will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Thursday, then bounced right back against North Canyon on Tuesday. Canyon View never let North Canyon onto the board and left with a 13-0 win. The matchup marked the Jaguars' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Their offense was hitting North Canyon from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Mia Robles led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for five goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Desert Edge entered their tilt with North Canyon on Thursday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Everything went their way against the Rattlers as they made off with a 13-0 win. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Scorpions considering their one-goal performance the contest before.

Canyon View's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five games. As for Desert Edge, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which lines up perfectly with their 10-1-1 record this season.

Canyon View beat Desert Edge 2-0 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Canyon View since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
