Hedgesville skates past Wakefield Country Day with ease

The Hedgesville Eagles had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They breezed by Wakefield Country Day on the road to the tune of 58-8. With Hedgesville ahead 26-3 at the half, the game was all but over already.

It was another big night for Gracie Brown, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Brown is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Yates, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Hedgesville's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-6. As for Wakefield Country Day, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hedgesville won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Washington at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in West Virginia (Washington is ranked 51st, while Hedgesville is ranked 75th). As for Wakefield Country Day, they will be playing at home against Randolph-Macon Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
