Winston Salem Christian and Davidson Day pushed the score to 9-3 the last time they played Davidson Day, but on Thursday defenses reigned supreme. The Lions' defense stepped up to hand the Patriots a 1-0 shutout. Given Winston Salem Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Davidson Day are ranked 203rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
