Baseball Recap: Arcola Has No Trouble Against Oakwood

Arcola won the last time they faced Oakwood and things went their way on Saturday too. The Purple Riders put the hurt on the Comets with a sharp 9-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Purple Riders.

Brevyn Whisman made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other pitching news, Brody Phillips looked comfortable as he scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Back at the plate, DJ Stevens was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Arcola's record now sits at 2-0. As for Oakwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Arcola didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 win against Central A & M on the 25th. As for Oakwood, they have also already played their next match, a 5-0 defeat against Tolono Unity on the 24th.
