Mateo Garcia was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Jaxzel Cantu was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Osi Lopez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Palmview lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Rowe's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Friday. They never let Weslaco East get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
The result came thanks to Zavier Garcia's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alex Leon, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Miguel Soto, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Palmview's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Rowe, their record now sits at 22-8.
Palmview suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Rowe when the teams last played back in March. Can the Lobos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
