Moriah hadn't done well against Lake Placid recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Vikings narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bombers 6-5. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 14-13 victory the Bombers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2022.

Sadie Sargent was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Sargent was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Courtright, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Sophia Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

The win got Moriah back to even at 1-1. As for Lake Placid, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Moriah will take on Plattsburgh at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The contest will give the Vikings their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Lake Placid, they will square off against Indian Lake Central at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
