Basketball Recap: Jarrell Find Success

Jarrell hadn't done well against Salado recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Jarrell Cougars escaped with a win against the Salado Eagles by the margin of a single free throw, 66-65. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 51-37 on January 3rd.

Jarrell's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aniya Taylor, who posted 27 points. The matchup was Taylor's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Erica Taylor, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 22 points and seven boards.

Jarrell's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Salado, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-13.

When Jarrell and Salado next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Jarrell will try to stop Taylor's three-game winning streak when the meet at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Jarrell is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season. Similarly, Salado will face off against Burnet and their three-game winning streak at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
