Softball Recap: Tranquillity Tigers vs. Coalinga Horned Toads

Tranquillity extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 30 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-14 in the process. They came up short against the Coalinga Horned Toads, falling 18-0. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Horned Toads from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Coalinga, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Considering they have won eight games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Coalinga's part, Brooklyn Davis was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Davis has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sophie Walker was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ericka Pereyra, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs.

Tranquillity wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 13-0 loss against Avenal on the 25th. As for Coalinga, they have also already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Dos Palos on the 25th.
