Soccer Game Preview: Joshua vs. Chisholm Trail

The Joshua Owls will challenge the Chisholm Trail Rangers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Joshua comes in on five and Chisholm Trail on three.

Joshua is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Arlington Heights get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. Give Joshua's defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Joshua was without their leading scorer, Jack Ellis, in Friday's contest. With Ellis sitting this one out, Garin Gotcher got some extra time on the pitch (80 vs. his season average of 55.2).

Meanwhile, Chisholm Trail hadn't done well against Denton recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Chisholm Trail had just enough and edged out Denton 3-2. That's two games straight that Chisholm Trail have won by just one goal.

Joshua pushed their record up to 12-7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored nine goals over those three matchups. As for Chisholm Trail, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11-2.

Joshua might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Chisholm Trail in their previous matchup back in January of 2018. Can Joshua avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
