Softball Game Preview: C. Milton Wright Mustangs vs. North East Indians

The C. Milton Wright Mustangs will square off against the North East Indians at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. C. Milton Wright will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

C. Milton Wright gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Harford Tech by a score of 6-2.

Izzie Youngworth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brooke Lusby was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Noelle Beavers, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Meanwhile, North East fell victim to Bohemia Manor and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 11-0 to the Eagles. The game marked the first time this season in which the Indians were not able to get on the board.

C. Milton Wright pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for North East, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. C. Milton Wright hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. However, it's not like North East struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

C. Milton Wright skirted past North East 2-1 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
