Basketball Recap: St. Joseph Academy Piles Up the Points Against St. Ursula Academy

After losing to St. Ursula Academy the last time they met, St. Joseph Academy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The St. Joseph Academy Jaguars blew past the St. Ursula Academy Arrows 50-12 on Saturday. The Jaguars pushed the score to 41-11 by the end of the third, a deficit the Arrows had little chance of recovering from.

St. Joseph Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ruth Becker out in front who posted nine points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Bree White, who scored eight points and three steals.

St. Joseph Academy pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.7 points per game. As for St. Ursula Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.

St. Joseph Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-50 victory against Padua Franciscan on the 20th. As for St. Ursula Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lumen Christi Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on January 28th.
