Banning Lewis Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camryn Lanza, who had five aces and three digs.
Lanza wasn't the only good servers: Banning Lewis Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 23 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's didn't have quite enough to beat Colorado Springs Christian on Thursday and fell 3-2. The loss continues a trend for the Pirates in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost three in a row.
St. Mary's wouldn't go down easily and took Colorado Springs Christian into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-0, 25-0, 0-25, 0-25, 15-13.
St. Mary's now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Banning Lewis Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
