Basketball Recap: Archbishop Williams Takes a Loss

Archbishop Williams was the 68-58 winner over Cardinal Spellman when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Archbishop Williams Bishops fell just short of the Cardinal Spellman Cardinals by a score of 67-64 on Wednesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bishops came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Cardinals are ranked 224th).

Archbishop Williams has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points over those games. As for Cardinal Spellman, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-11.

While Archbishop Williams had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
