Baseball Recap: Rancho Bernardo Beats Poway for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Rancho Bernardo extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping their season record up to 11-9 in the process. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Poway Titans. Seven seems to be a good number for the Broncos as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Noah Villa looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brady Strachan, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Rancho Bernardo is undefeated when Strachan posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

As for Poway, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

On Poway's side, Owen Digenan was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Digenan has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jake Johnson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.

Rancho Bernardo has already played their next match, a 4-2 defeat against San Marcos on the 28th. As for Poway, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Carlsbad on the 28th.
