Baseball Recap: Bishop Ward Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bishop Ward ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Iola Mustangs. This was a revenge game for the Cyclones: when they faced off against the Mustangs on Friday, they had to take a 6-5 loss.

Nathan Hernandez made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Bishop Ward is undefeated when Hernandez posts two or more runs, but 7-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jayden Hendricks was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Manny Dunn was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Bishop Ward hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Iola struck out seven times.

Bishop Ward's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-11. As for Iola, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-7.

As of now, neither Bishop Ward nor the Mustangs have any future games scheduled.
