Softball Game Preview: Rockbridge County Wildcats vs. Fort Defiance Indians

Rockbridge County is 1-9 against Fort Defiance since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Rockbridge County will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Rockbridge County is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest loss since April 26, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of William Monroe by a score of 11-9.

Kayleigh Rosson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cameron Terry, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Fort Defiance waltzed into their game on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Bison. Considering the Indians have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Fort Defiance's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Rockbridge County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
