Basketball Recap: Springfield Triumphs

Springfield's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Sunday. They skirted past the East Central Cardinals 52-50. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 128th in Ohio, while the Cardinals are ranked 309th in Oklahoma), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory got Springfield back to even at 5-5. As for East Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Springfield will square off against Fairmont at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday. Fairmont will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Springfield surely won't give up without a fight. As for East Central, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Collinsville at 6:00 p.m. on January 14th.
