The Desert Hills Thunder will be playing at home against the Dixie Flyers at 7:00 p.m. Desert Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season.
Last Wednesday, Desert Hills came up short against Crimson Cliffs and fell 48-41. The match marked the Thunder's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Despite their defeat, Desert Hills saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ben Chase, who went 6 of 10 en route to 13 points and seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Rasmussen, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Dixie, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 49-35 victory over Snow Canyon on Friday. Given the Flyers' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Warriors are ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dixie's win came from a few key players Desert Hills will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tyson Forsey, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jay Jay Davey, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.
Dixie smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.
Dixie's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Desert Hills, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Desert Hills has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Dixie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
