Liberty has won ten straight games at home, while Valley View has won ten straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Bison will host the Eagles at 3:15 p.m. Liberty is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Liberty got the win against Orange Vista by a conclusive 9-2. The result was nothing new for the Bison, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Liberty let Emma Campos and Mariah Solorio run wild. Campos went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Solorio went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits Solorio has posted since back in March. Jennessy Lopez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Valley View was able to grind out a solid victory over Paloma Valley on Tuesday, taking the game 6-2. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Giselle Morales spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Destiny Mendoza, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Ramirez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Liberty has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Valley View, their win bumped their record up to 20-4.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Liberty hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .386. However, it's not like Valley View struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Liberty might still be hurting after the 12-4 defeat they got from Valley View when the teams last played back in April. Will the Bison have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
