Softball Recap: Maple Grove Triumphs

Maple Grove's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Brocton Bulldogs. The Red Dragons haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Meg Ryan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Ryan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Maple Grove got a massive performance out of Savannah Weart, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Bry Cornell, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Maple Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brocton only posted a batting average of .217.

Maple Grove's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Brocton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Maple Grove and Brocton will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Red Dragons will square off against rival Cassadaga Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Brocton is set to challenge their familiar foe Silver Creek at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
