Basketball Game Preview: B O L D Warriors vs. Melrose Dutchmen

B O L D and Melrose are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The B O L D Warriors will face off against the Melrose Dutchmen at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. B O L D is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.9 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, B O L D ended up a good deal behind Windom and lost 90-76.

B O L D might have lost, but man, Jack Gross was a machine: he went 11 of 21 on his way to 30 points in addition to eight assists and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Penkert, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 19 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Melrose lost to St. Cloud Cathedral on the road by a 68-52 margin on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Dutchmen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while the Crusaders are ranked 93rd).

Melrose has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.2 points per game. As for B O L D, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

B O L D was dealt a bruising 88-57 defeat at the hands of Melrose in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can B O L D avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
