Football Recap: Gilpin County Piles Up the Points Against South Park

While Gilpin County put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for South Park. The Eagles blew past the Burros, posting a 44-0 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Eagles just coasted through the last quarter.

Landon Church had an outrageously good game as he picked up 49 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 43 yards and one score.

Gilpin County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Church and Vincent Schoell. Cameron Thomason was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making five total tackles (3.0 for loss).

The victory made it two in a row for Gilpin County and bumps their season record up to 2-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.0 points over those games. As for South Park, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Gilpin County will host Justice at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Park, they will venture away from home to challenge Belleview Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
