Softball Recap: Dora Drops Season-High Score on Fultondale

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dora). Everything went their way against the Fultondale Wildcats on Thursday as the Dora Bulldogs made off with a 20-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won four matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Sophie Grace Corley, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ada Nix, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Dora was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in three consecutive contests.

The victory got Dora back to even at 5-5. As for Fultondale, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Dora will square off against Holly Pond at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Dora is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Fultondale, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Fultondale Wildcats challenge Minor Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Minor has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.33 runs per game on average), something Fultondale will no doubt try to take advantage of.
