Recap: Campo Verde Coyotes vs. Williams Field Black Hawks
The Campo Verde Coyotes entered their tilt with the Williams Field Black Hawks with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Campo Verde sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-44 win over Williams Field on Thursday. For Campo Verde, this counts as revenge for the 49-37 defeat Williams Field walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Campo Verde was led to victory by Bailey Barnes and Kelsey Watts. Barnes scored 16 points along with two steals, while Watts dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Watts has scored at least a third of Campo Verde's points.
When it comes to explaining why Williams Field lost, one person who can't be blamed is Savanah Horotn. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Horotn has scored all season. Sienna Lynch was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Campo Verde has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. As for Williams Field, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Campo Verde will square off against Casteel at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Casteel is on a three-game streak of home wins, Campo Verde a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Williams Field, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Mountain Pointe at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Williams Field is facing Mountain Pointe at the right time seeing as Mountain Pointe is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
