Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Heritage). They enjoyed a cozy 86-70 win over the Douglas County Huskies on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.
Heritage's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trystan Rangel, who went 10-for-20 to rack up 28 points. Heritage is 6-3 when Rangel posts 20 or more points, but 5-9 otherwise. Brayden Chaney was another key player, dropping a double-double with 20 points and 12 boards.
Heritage smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.
Despite the loss, Douglas County still got an impressive performance from Gavin Dale, who went 12-for-24 on his way to 38 points. The dominant performance gave Dale a new career-high in points. Karson Smukler also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.
Heritage's record is now 11-12. As for Douglas County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 15 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.
Heritage will face off against Rocky Mountain on Tuesday. One thing working in Heritage's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games. Douglas County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
