Softball Recap: Watertown Raiders vs. Waltham Hawks

Watertown extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 2-14. They came up short against the Waltham Hawks, falling 12-2. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hawks earlier this season, when they won 12-11.

As for Waltham, the victory snapped their losing streak at eight games and leaves them with a 4-14 record. They not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24th (when they won 24-1).

For Waltham's part, Josie Proskoczilo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Proskoczilo has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ava Palao was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Gena Haggerty also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Watertown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Waltham, they will take on Malden at 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
