Baseball Recap: Naugatuck's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

Monday just wasn't the day for Naugatuck's offense. They came up short against the Ansonia Chargers on Monday, falling 6-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Greyhounds were not able to get on the board.

Naugatuck got a good showing from Lucas Ferraiolo, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Ferraiolo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

Naugatuck's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6. As for Ansonia, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Naugatuck will host Woodland Regional at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hawks will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Greyhounds surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ansonia, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Torrington at 3:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Chargers 4, the Raiders 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
