Palm Desert had won seven straight home games dating back to last season and Alfred 'AJ' Rivera Jr. did his part to make it eight on Thursday. The Aztecs blew past the La Quinta Blackhawks 35-0 for which the team can thank Rivera Jr., who threw for 301 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 38 yards and two scores. His passing game has become a key predictor of Palm Desert's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise.

Palm Desert's defense made their presence known, laying out Roman Ansley four times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Darius Pine was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, making eight total tackles, and defending one pass.
