Baseball Recap: Pleasant Ridge Takes a Loss

Pleasant Ridge extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-16. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the McLouth Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-6 on Thursday.

As for McLouth, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.

For McLouth's part, the team relied heavily on Peyton Wyatt, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Wyatt has become a key player for the Bulldogs: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Carleton, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Pleasant Ridge will take on rival Oskaloosa at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, McLouth is set to face off against their familiar foe Atchison County at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
