Baseball Recap: San Rafael Comes Up Short

San Rafael extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 9-11 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Archie Williams Peregrine Falcons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 9-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Cruz Wexler made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. San Rafael is 2-1 when Wexler posts three or more RBI, but 7-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Dylan Thorpe, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs.

As for Archie Williams, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games.

On Archie Williams' side, they saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was August Block, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Block a new career-high. Jack Evans was another, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

While San Rafael had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
