Softball Game Preview: Sparta Spartans vs. Nekoosa Papermakers

Sparta is on an 11-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Nekoosa a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Sparta Spartans will host the Nekoosa Papermakers at 4:30 p.m. Nekoosa took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Sparta, who comes in off a win.

Sparta is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Mauston get on the board and left with a 20-0 win on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Spartans needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Nekoosa came up short against Adams-Friendship on Saturday, falling 13-3.

Lillian Ostrum was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Sofia Gaupp was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Nekoosa's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Sparta, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-11.
