Baseball Game Preview: Liberty Patriots vs. Pecos Eagles

The Liberty Patriots will take on the Pecos Eagles in a tournament on Saturday. The last three games Liberty has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Liberty is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Lubbock just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Westerners by a score of 6-4.

Kaden Brewer was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two triples, one run, and one RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Levi Walker, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Brewer wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for Liberty: they were averaging 4.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 11.6.

Meanwhile, Pecos lost 15-7 to Coronado on Friday.

Pecos saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Idrick Montano, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Liberty now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Pecos, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-8.

Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Liberty hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Pecos struggles in that department as they've averaged .379. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
