Soccer Game Preview: Basalt vs. Rifle

The Basalt Longhorns will head out on the road to take on the Rifle Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Basalt has given up an average of 2.6 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Basalt came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Vail Mountain, falling 6-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, Basalt haven't been shut out since back in August.

Meanwhile, after soaring to seven goals the game before, Rifle was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to Steamboat Springs.

Rifle's loss dropped their record down to 4-6-1. As for Basalt, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6-1.

Basalt couldn't quite get it done against Rifle in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Longhorns avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
