Softball Game Preview: Seton Catholic Cougars vs. Columbia Bruins

Seton Catholic hasn't had much luck against Columbia recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Bruins at 4:00 p.m. Seton Catholic will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Seton Catholic gave up the first runs last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over Kalama.

Jocelyn Kender was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kingsley Williams, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Kuhnhausen, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Seton Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Columbia put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their undefeated season alive. They put the hurt on King's Way Christian with a sharp 12-2 win.

Seton Catholic pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9 runs. As for Columbia, their record is now 3-0-1.

Everything went Seton Catholic's way against Columbia in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Seton Catholic made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Bruins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
