Basketball Recap: Hapeville Charter Comes Up Short

On Monday, the Hapeville Charter Hornets came up short against the Cedar Shoals Jaguars and fell 49-37. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while the Jaguars are ranked 127th).

Despite the loss, Hapeville Charter still got an impressive performance from Christopher Person, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Person a new career-high in blocks (four). Kody Brown was another key player, putting up ten points.

Even though they lost, Hapeville Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Hapeville Charter has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Cedar Shoals, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-5.

Hapeville Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 46-30 defeat against Therrell on the 3rd. As for Cedar Shoals, they will venture away from home to challenge Madison County at 7:30 p.m. on January 7th.
