Baseball Game Preview: Del Campo Cougars vs. River City Raiders

The Del Campo Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the River City Raiders at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Friday, Del Campo came up short against Oakmont and fell 8-3. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly five runs.

Mitchell Clements was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Del Campo saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landen Hill, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Robert Franklin also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, River City also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Placer by a score of 8-3. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jordan Torrente was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Torrente was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Del Campo's record is now 0-3-1. As for River City, their record now sits at 5-2.
