Basketball Recap: Nolbert Cervantes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jal over Texico

Jal lost against Texico back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Jal Panthers fell 63-56 to the Texico Wolverines.

Jal lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Nolbert Cervantes, who posted 22 points and three steals. That was a full 39.3% of Jal's points, marking the third time in a row Cervantes has had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of A3 Rodriguez, who earned 18 points.

Jal's loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Texico, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-2 record this season.

Jal didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-52 victory against Hagerman on the 21st. As for Texico, they have also already played their next game, a 79-36 win against Tatum on the 21st.
