Softball Game Preview: Warren East Raiders vs. Heritage Hills Patriots

The Warren East Raiders will square off against the Heritage Hills Patriots at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Warren East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Warren East came up short against Oldham County and fell 5-2. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kenzie Upton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Heritage Hills ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over Hancock County. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won three in a row.

Mia Kiegel made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Haley Fisher was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base. Taylor Fisher was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Heritage Hills' record now sits at 15-4. As for Warren East, their loss dropped their record down to 19-8.

Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Warren East hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Heritage Hills struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Warren East beat Heritage Hills 3-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2019. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
