Baseball Recap: Pilot Rock Comes Up Short

Pilot Rock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sherman Huskies. The Rockets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Huskies from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Gage Williams put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Williams was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Carter VanHouten was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Tate Thacker, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Pilot Rock's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Sherman, with the win, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Huskies beat Pilot Rock by a score of 25-19 later that day.
