Football Game Preview: Myrtle Hawks vs. East Webster Wolverines + Official Tickets

The Myrtle Hawks will head out to challenge the East Webster Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Myrtle is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Hatley 29-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.

Among those leading the charge was Harlem McClendon, who picked up 71 receiving yards and two TDs. He didn't just play on offense: he also made four total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Myrtle didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of John Hunter Smith and McClendon.

Meanwhile, East Webster's rock-solid defense showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 53-0 win over Leland. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Cubs are ranked 215th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

East Webster's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Myrtle, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
