Softball Recap: Segerstrom Gets the Win

The third road matchup was the charm for Segerstrom, as they earned their first away win of the season. They came out on top against the Calvary Chapel Eagles by a score of 9-5 on Monday. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Samantha Elizalde looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She also tossed two walks, marking her first of the season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Martinez, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Aubrey Razo also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Segerstrom always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calvary Chapel only posted an OBP of .355.

Segerstrom's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Calvary Chapel, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Segerstrom will take on Ocean View at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ocean View has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.06 runs per game on average), something Segerstrom will no doubt try to take advantage of. We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. Calvary Chapel is facing Capistrano Valley Christian at the right time seeing as Capistrano Valley Christian is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
