Basketball Game Preview: Pensacola Catholic Crusaders vs. Westlake Lions

Two dominant guards in Solomon Sutton and Alex Jones are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Pensacola Catholic Crusaders and the Westlake Lions will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Pensacola Catholic's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten matchups.

While Pensacola Catholic didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Pensacola Christian Academy, posting a 70-34 victory. Given the Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while the Warriors are ranked 454th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pensacola Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tucker Adams, who went 5 of 8 en route to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keelan Weathers, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Westlake, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 79-70 win over Douglass on Saturday.

Pensacola Catholic pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Westlake, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
