With a playoff win on the line, Smith Valley rose to the challenge on Friday. Everything went their way against the Excel Christian Warriors as they made off with a 21-1 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by 13 runs or more this season.

Devin Gleason was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gaston Rodriguez was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Lannom, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Smith Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Excel Christian only posted an OBP of .333.

The win (which was Smith Valley's sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Excel Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-8-1.

As of now, neither Smith Valley nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
