Football Recap: Tahlequah Comes Up Short

If Tahlequah was feeling good fresh off their 56-0 takedown of Memorial last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers were outmatched by the Del City Eagles and fell 42-14. The Tigers lost against the Eagles in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 56-0 score last time.

Although Tahlequah took the loss, they still got scores from Kael Dobbins and Ashton Morgan.

Del City can attribute much of their success to Syncere Overton, who rushed for 109 yards, and also threw for 126 yards and one TD. That's the most passing yards Overton has posted since back in November of 2024.

Tahlequah has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Del City, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Tahlequah is set to take on their familiar foe Will Rogers College at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Del City will challenge rival Claremore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
