Soccer Game Preview: Charlotte Country Day School vs. Covenant Day

The Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers are taking a road trip to challenge the Covenant Day Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Charlotte Country Day School came up short against Charlotte Latin on Tuesday, falling 6-1. While losing is never fun, Charlotte Country Day School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Charlotte Latin are ranked second).

Covenant Day had taken Cannon down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was the Cougars who were credited with the victory. Cannon got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Covenant Day's one.

Covenant Day's loss dropped their record down to 11-5-2. As for Charlotte Country Day School, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Charlotte Country Day School beat Covenant Day 2-0 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buccaneers since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
