Softball Recap: Winchester Community Starts Season with Victory at Home

Winchester Community gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They skirted past the Monroe Central Golden Bears 8-6. The Golden Falcons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Golden Bears, too.

Aviana Ramos was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Allie Campbell, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Monroe Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winchester Community is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on South Adams at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Monroe Central, they will venture away from home to face off against Union City at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
