Baseball Game Preview: Xavier Hawks vs. West De Pere Phantoms

The Xavier Hawks will face off against the West De Pere Phantoms at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Xavier's offense. They lost 10-0 to Fox Valley Lutheran on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hawks have suffered since April 10th.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when West De Pere and Green Bay Southwest meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Phantoms sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Fighting Trojans. The victory continues a trend for the Phantoms in their matchups with the Fighting Trojans: they've now won seven in a row.

This is the second loss in a row for Xavier and nudges their season record down to 5-7. As for West De Pere, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-7.

Xavier came out on top in a nail-biter against West De Pere when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 5-3. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Phantoms have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
