Basketball Recap: North Marion Colts vs. Tavares Bulldogs

North Marion saw some tournament action on Saturday. They breezed by the Tavares Bulldogs to the tune of 72-34.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Marion to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lamont Sweeting JR, who went 7 for 9 en route to 16 points plus six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Coy Sizemore, who went 6 for 11 en route to 16 points plus five assists and three steals.

North Marion was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tavares only posted five.

Despite the defeat, Tavares saw an underclassman step up: sophomore MATTHEW CHAVEZ went 5 for 11 en route to 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points CHAVEZ has scored all season.

North Marion now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Tavares, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

North Marion will look to take advantage of their home-court for the first time this season as they take on Forest at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tavares, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 43-39 victory against Celebration on the 3rd.
