Softball Recap: Tri Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hagerstown, Tri was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Rushville Lions.

Avery Dungan made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. Dungan was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylan Matthews, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of MacKenzie Laurie, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI and one run.

Tri kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Tri now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Rushville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.

Coming up, Tri will venture away from home to take on Winchester Community at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.55 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rushville, they will welcome Connersville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
