Basketball Recap: Buna Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Kamryn Jurik and Kaleigh Humble

If Buna was feeling good fresh off their 66-40 takedown of Hardin last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Buna Cougars came up short against the Orangefield Bobcats on Friday, falling 68-46. Sadly, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-42 back in January.

Buna's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kaleigh Humble, who posted nine points and eight boards, and Kamryn Jurik, who earned seven points and five rebounds. What's more, Humble also racked up two assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024.

Even though they lost, Buna smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Buna's loss dropped their record down to 20-13. As for Orangefield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season.

Buna will be playing at home against Warren at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Warren will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Buna surely won't give up without a fight. Orangefield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
